Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday described the passage of the Waqf Bill as a "watershed moment for governance reform," stating the new legislation will bring unprecedented transparency to the management of Islamic charitable properties across India. The amended Waqf Act, passed by both Houses, introduces digital cataloging of all Waqf assets, stricter auditing of Waqf boards, and provisions against illegal encroachments. "This historic step fulfills our commitment to empower all communities while ensuring their institutions function with accountability," Modi tweeted, noting the bill had received cross-party support.
